Truly Inspirational
I got a weekend of free HBO and Cinemax this past weekend and found myself watching this HBO Documentary called Brave New Voices and was blown away. It shows how these teenagers write their own poetry and then present it on stage in front of thousands of other people for the opportunity to compete in a national competition in Washington D.C. The writing and words that these kids could come up with and the situations they have had to overcome just moved me so greatly that I was left speechless when the first episode was over. Here is a collection of teenagers rising above their circumstances, their medical issues, home life problems, or just general frustration and turning it into something so spectacular that I don't know most adults who could do what they have done. Their prose is so well done, their emotion coming through on ever word, and all at the age of 18 or younger. If you have HBO then watch this show. If you have cable or any on demand service then search it out. I hope they have it on DVD soon so I can finish the series. This truly is a remarkable documentary and one I would encourage everyone to watch.
